Our homelands are more than real estate. The COUP Council understands that a home is necessary for healing a family and their ancestral bloodlines. Representing several years of planning and responding to tenants and the houseless in Rapid City, the COUP Council has consistently centered its efforts around housing justice to fulfill our mission. After a successful capital campaign in 2022, the COUP Council purchased a residential property through which to provide housing and develop a tenant cooperative. We have housed approximately 30 individuals since November 2022, most of whom would otherwise would not have access to housing. Please join us and help us purchase, build and develop housing to benefit the people indigenous to these lands, lands that were unjustly taken and remain unceded by the Great Sioux Nation recognized in the 1868 Fort Laramie Treaty. We are still here.
