West River Tenants United
Through our fiscal sponsorship of West River Tenants United, COUP Board members and Staff provide direct and in-kind support to tenants experiencing housing challenges, such as discrimination, illegal billing, and illegal evictions, including court support, advocacy campaigns, and financial assistance with legal bills. The WRTU holds a monthly general meeting open to the public the last Tuesday of each month.
Fiscally Sponsored Projects of the COUP Council also include Two Spirit Nation, the HeSapa Voter Initiative and the HeSapa Birth Circle. In July 2024, the He Sapa Birth Circle organized the third annual Traditional BirthWork Gathering held in our homelands of Minnekhata, Hot Springs, South Dakota, Oceti Sakowin Makoce.
