Healing Justice: the Wotakuye Fund
In response to police violence and high rates of victimization, the COUP Council established the Wotakuye Fund to support relatives in their healing journeys. Applications are available at www.tinyurl.com/wotakuyefund.
We believe community care and mutual aid are justice in action, and a form of decolonizing from harmful systems such as the police and courts. To that end, we are offering a small gift of resources to justice impacted individuals through the COUP Council’s newly established Wotakuye Fund for Healing Justice & Mutual Aid.
While the entire cost of these activities for any one family or individual exceeds the resources of our Fund, we nonetheless want to contribute directly to the well-being of people harmed by injustice with gifts up to $500 per applicant/family. We are grateful for this opportunity to aid our community and continue to promote healing justice and community care. COUP Council appreciates the Waterers Committee and the Communities Transforming Police Fund of Borealis Philanthropy for making this effort possible.
